Have you ever thought about what your personal mission statement is? Ever contemplated on your true calling? It is my belief that everyone has their North Star. Do you know what yours is?
Routines, no Rainbows in Sight
Most people tend to be defined by Tradition, Culture, or Society. Most people don’t know that they are not the ones making the decisions, especially when it comes to making decision about themselves. Most people think they are the ones making the decisions, but the truth is that they’re actually not. So, they end up not being happy doing something they “decided”. They wake up, doing the same monotonous routine, repeating the things they don’t like. Suppressing their true wants due to societal pressure, trying to fit in with the norm and conform to what is generally expected.
And that becomes a vicious cycle. People think that’s what they want, and at times they can be so convinced about it themselves. In actual fact when they achieve that “want”, they are still at square one, where they started. So dull…
How do I know? Because I’ve been there and done that.
Yes, I was in that same boat before. Making the “right” decisions over something concerning me and my life, for fear of being branded an outcast. I was miserable day by day doing things that didn’t set with me, against my beliefs and values, and certainly not important to me.
Until such a time the misfit in me awakened when I gained clarity of my beliefs and what’s close to my heart. That also required me to have the grit to Defy the Norm at times.
Your North Star
Your North Star is a light that navigates you towards your life purpose, your mission, your true calling. It gives meaning to your life and aligns with what is close to your heart; Your North Star is in symmetry with your core values and beliefs.
What is your North Star, you ask? Your deepest innermost self truly knows.
In the past, I was wondering thru life feeling lost, purposeless, and finding life meaningless. I didn’t know what to do with my life. Everyday was a routine, life was feeling hollow; it was more about getting through than getting to.
Until such a time when I gained clarity of my core values and beliefs, I discovered what I truly wanted, I unravelled my true calling; I found my North Star!
From that moment on, I was motivated to act as I knew where I was headed. I became resolute and purposeful. That brought me more and more happiness as correspondingly, I was attracting good things to me.
How Can You Start Finding Your North Star?

- List all the things you are passionate about.
- Think about how you can you use each of those to impact others.
- For each, ask yourself, “Whose life do I want to impact the most?”.
