The “Me” before
We all know that life is not always a bed of roses; there are ups and downs to it. Some have it easy; some have it hard; and others harder! Before my transformation, I used to think that mine is a rough terrain. The endless list of problems I had (or thought I had). Let’s see what they were:
(eyes down to the left)
I thought, “I’m always broke. Money and I never agree.”;
I thought, “I can’t get along with people.”; and
I thought, “Life is so hard, I should just give up.”
Alright, that should be enough; you get the idea.
Was I really having it tough? No. It was more an issue with my thoughts and how I responded to the outside world.
Let’s consider data centres for a bit. Data Centre is the ‘brain’ of a business. Without it, everything stops. And when it has problems, so does the business. Among the myriad issues that can scourge a data centre, improper cabling is one of those. The problems and maintenance headaches that can come with a spaghetti bowl of networking cables. When your data centre is in a mess, it is important to re-lay the cables properly to ensure business continuity and uninterrupted services.

Well, similarly, my brain needed re-wiring. My patterns of thoughts needed changing.
You see, to create change, we need to change the way we think. With neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), we can rewire our thoughts and behaviour; to remove negative thought patterns and behaviours. And that’s what I needed.
My Transformation Journey
Lucky for me, I discovered the world of NLP! Through learning NLP, I understood that I am in charge of my mind. I have the resources to change something I am bothered with, and I am responsible for it.
There were many NLP techniques that helped with my transformation. One of them I want to mention here is, Meta Model.
In NLP, there’s a presupposition that goes, “The Map is Not the Territory”. That is, the models we make of the world around us with our thoughts are not the world itself but representations of it. We often tend to confuse what we think with ‘reality’. Meta Model is based on this principle.
The meta-model in NLP is designed to challenge the deletions, distortions, and generalizations of our brain-processed information.
Now, let’s revisit my negative thoughts (or rather the things I was saying to myself).
“I’m always broke.”
> Always?
“Money and I never agree.”
> How specifically are Money and I disagreeing?
“I can’t get along with people”
> What is stopping me?
“Life is so hard.”
> How is life being hard for me?
“I should just give up”
> What would happen if I did not?
With the internal dialogues I had with myself thru the self-application of meta models (to recover the deleted, distorted and generalized info), I became curious about my thoughts. Curiosity led me to evaluate my thoughts, and I changed them with other positive and more useful thoughts.
The Enhanced Me
When my thought patterns changed, I started seeing the world in a different light, through a revised map of the world. With better clarity, things around me were changing for the better. With my renewed perceptions, the quality of my life and my experiences improved. I am feeling grateful everyday, in every way.
Writing this blog is I, version 2.0; tremendously enhanced from inside out, all thanks to NLP. Moreover, I am in command & control of how I choose to feel.
Following my transformation, I began to see that the world is not that bad after all! 😉
